Hello to Mr and Mrs McConnel (Bob & Viv) - am I allowed to call you that now? School at Rerekohu seems like a million years ago, however being educated and living in Te Araroa for the first 10 years of my life has stood me in good steed. Your work on the family and local history of the coast is really important to me, especially now that I am older and realise the importance of home and family. (I can now openly say that I belong to this mighty family) Keep up the great work! Might come and say hello next time Im in Te Araroa.(Home)

Whanau often buy the tiles for inserting on headstones, but you can put them on your house or fence, or just put a bit of felt under them and use them to put hot pots on. Anything really!

I have once again enjoyed visiting this site. Unfortunately my grandparents didn't share much of the family history with us as children and it is only now that I am starting to learn of the history attached to our family and what a wonderful history to be proud off. Please continue to keep up the good work on this site. I would love to learn more about the family history. If you have webpages where I can learn more please forward them to me at spdip@hnpl.net. Could you please make sure the subject line includes "Family History" or something to that effect so my ever vigilant husband doesn't treat it as spam! After my last visit my daughter was thrilled to learn that a really good friend of hers (who isn't a local) is related! Thanks everybody.Trisha Diprose

Kia Ora, this site is great!Although I have spainish not only through my mother's ancestor, Jose Manuel, but through my father's side the C'omo'terez family.I enjoyed myself at the Manuel/Emanuel reunion, but I am not proud to say that Iam Espanol. In condition to that I will not bring my child up to be proud of being Spanish.I will never forgive Jose Manuel for what he done to my Tupuna. If you reasech far enough in to Jose Manuel's past you might see why Iam not proud to be Spanish or even of his line!P.S... Great site, Espero que usted haya gozado de este sitio tanto como tengo , tambien para saber que usted tiene familia extendida hacia fuera...Gracias Jannae C'omo'terez.

Kia ora te whanau o Manuera and all other whanau from Ngati Porou. I am the youngest daughter and child of Ben Baker (youngest son and child of Tawai Moana nee Horua - and Bert Baker) & Maukino "Heni""Baby Jane" Baker (youngest daughter and child of Kareti Tipoki Reihana and Morehu Reihana nee Ariari). I am currently attempting to trace my whakapapa which is an onerous task but one that I am finding interesting. The reason for this quest is for the sake of my children, for them to know where their turangawaewae is. This site has been interesting because though I know a lot of the names mentioned on this site, I have never been able to make the connections. This site makes it easier and gives me visual aids to go by. Kia ora to Uncle John and Aunty Ma ............. it's been a long time but I'm still 'hanging around'. Ash and I have two lovely children and we do travel up to see Grace and Dick from time to time so - hope to see you next time we're up the Coast.

Prompted by my nephew Brian George Gunderson for the website address, had me reading many of the messages that have been posted thus far. It will be my endeavour to re-visit 'our' site as often as possible, to never forget, that although Australia is very much our home now, our roots will always be there in New Zealand.A couple of years back my sister took me to my very first rugby game, here in Perth at Subiaco Oval. The Maori were playing the Wallabies. My sister in her All Black Jumper, me in my Wallaby Jumper sat in the middle of of a huge number of NZ Supporters. It was the best day I had ever spent. A cousin I hadn't seen for 25 years or so, picked me out of the thousands of people there that day - what a blast. His name was Alby Rickard and from time to time whether through our profession or otherwise, I'm sure we will run into each other again.Luv - Taini

Thank you to those responsible for setting this up. I will be back. keep up the good work.

Hi to anyone who may beable to help me. My father Tahu Potiki died when i was young and i believe i need to know all information about my fathers family to understand my family tree as at this moment i feel im a lose sole unless i know where and who im from my father means alot to me , how ever i did not even know who he was his mother, father but know that im a rungarunga a surname that will never part from me. From the net i believe my grandmothers name is Ihipera who my older sister was named after. Going up 1 level brings me to the names Apirana and Katarina Grant then from there im lose. Have heard Jose had more wives all other NZ including the South Island. Does this whakapapa reflect only our ties back to our Ngati Porou tipuna whom were registered as being married to Jose Manuel?? Otherwise this is a beautiful site to keep reflecting back to and a lot of aroha has gone into sharing this information around. Thank you.

Hello family Manuel José!! I am Spanish and I live in Barcelona. I have seen their web, very interesting and beautiful. I am aficinado to the genealogy and I have my tree with members from century 16. I would like to say that if you write in their web a part in Spanish it is but easy that you find news of their family, not all speak English in España. A greeting for their family. Good year 2004 Antonio

Kia ora koutou to all our Manuel Jose whanau! Just a short message to all the Manuel Jose whanau living in Melbourne, I am the secretary of the South pacific Foundation and we are working towards getting a multicultural centre built for South Pacific peoples - that includes you!! - and then once we get that, we will then work towards getting individual cultural whare (e.g. marae, whare, fale etc) around the centre (the multicultural centre is the "hub" of the wheel and the cultural whare the "spokes"), but to get there we need you to register (it's free) so that the Victoria Stage Government can see that there are a lot of us here and we have the support. If you want to know more, email me at: sthpacific.vic@bigpond.com.au and I will let you know more. Looking forward to hearing from you!!!

Kia ora te whanau... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I am the eldest daughter of Patuone Edwards, son of Ritahia Te Kawa, daughter of Ihipera Haenga. Last time I checked in there was all kinds of messages from all over as there is now, and still going... too much alright!! My younger sister Ihipera (8yrs) and I spent our Christmas and New Year holiday in Brisbane Australia with our brother Patrick, it was really awesome. Had to do the theme parks, Movie World, Sea World, Wet'n'Wild and Dream World, it really brought the kid out of ya. The weather was so hot, it was just as well the cuzzies James & his beautiful wife Masi Brooking had an airconditioned lounge, cos thats where we spent most of our time!! Also bonding with their five beautiful children Jamie-Lee, Nathaniel, Jorden, Summer and little Helayna was miki. It was so choice to catch up with dad's brother uncle George, aunty Liz and the cuzzies Man, Teneal & Terri-Lee, all are very well. Aroha-tino-nui, Edwards whanau of Huntly
