Kia ora peeps, I am the namesake and mokopuna of Tauatoru Mairia Poi (Myra) and of Maika Poi. Although both have passed on, I remember them with both joy, warmth and sadness. They lived a hard life and brought up many children not all their own, including mokopuna. Nana loved feeding anyone who came around. I loved sitting around their table with the forms and two chairs either end, listening to Nan, and Gramps talking about Days of our Lives as if it was real, and about the old days. Days we can still learn by today. Anyway...kia ora to all the whanau ties out there...always remember where you are from whilst moving ahead with the new generations...pass on what you know and more...kia ora tatau...Myra XXX

Kia ora koutou katoaThis is an awesome site, congratulations. I have a query and wonder if anyone could help. I was born in Gisborne to Rangi Robin, who's mother was Rangi Robin Snr. (nee Bristow?...Bristowe?)from Te Araroa. My father was John Porter and his mother was Maraea Crawford, and her mum I think was Lily White. As a child i was told by my grandmother Rangi that we had Spanish blood in us, but don't know how. I am hoping that someone who reads this will be able to help. I recognize the Collier name and the Goldsmiths as whanau, but how? I feel as i'm typing this that there is someone out there that can help (really emotional)My email is tippy136@hotmail.comArohanui Fiona (Pani)

Tena koutou katoa,My name is Everlyne Erina Ringatu Chase (nee Ngatai), I am the oldest daughter of Peka Nicholas Ngatai (No Rangitukia/Tikitiki e tipu ake ia) and Tangihau Te Wanahi Manihera (No Ruatahuna e tipu ake ia). I am looking for any information about my father's family. My Dad,at present is the only living male in his family, along with his sister Da the last female in their family (who lives in Gisborne). My brothers and sister would like some more information about our Grandfather's family, his name was Arapeta Ngatai and also our Grandmother who was Matekino Akena (Atkins). We have been told that the Ngatai whanau came from Matakana Island, but are not sure, our father does not like to talk about his family, we do know that our grandmother died at a young age, but have no information on her family. As the oldest daughter of my father, I would appreciate any information that will assist brothers, sisters, our nephews and neices and our parents first great-grand son and me to know where our father came from and to try and trace some whanau. We were born and breed in the Wairarapa and now we are scattered throughout the north island. Any information would be appreciated.

Great site really interesting. Having grown up being told we had whanau links to Tikitiki I am finally trying to work out how and where those links may be. I see you have Sir Apirana Ngata buried there and I know he was related as his mother was my Ggrandmothers Hera Maurahus sister. Is his link to Tikitiki through his adopted father or his mothers side or through his own lifes events?I also see the Paniora connection, I know my late Grandfather Hori Maxwell interconnected with this line through his daughter the late Ramari Souter (nee Paniora) where that connection point is in the big picture I dont know as I think that was a William Christi (alias El Dorado) also thought to have been from Spain or of Spanish descent and referred to as Paniora. I wonder if this is the same Paniora connection or a different one.My brother in Law who now lives in Tauranga is from Lima Peru and his mother is of Inca descent. Spanish is their first language. Their are many common denominators between the Spanish and Portuguese languages and even ItalianMy mother has learnt Spanish. I live in germany as does another sister and we have friends who are both of Spanish and Portuguese descent and can speak and understand each others language. My sister works part of each month is Spain. There have been some very interesting articles and comments online over the Paniora history and many of them have had some clues worthy of following up.If anyone has any answers to my queries they can e-mail me direct Markonijoy@aol.com

My daughter is doing a school project where she has to have the whakapapa of her family to 4 generations. Her teacher has been lenient and is allowing her to not have to do all the cousins as she is the Great - Great Grandaughter of Emma & Hamiora Collier - she took along the Olive Branches to show him the extent of what he is asking. He has generously said she only needs to do Great Aunts and Uncles and can leave out the cousins as she needs to have Dates of Birth for all of them as well. This is where we have a problem as Olive Branches does not give us the Dates of Birth for the family. Her great-grandfather was Sidney Parekura Collier. Unfortunatly we do not have any accurate records as Poppa has passed away and Nana doesn't seem to have had much interest in keeping the informatin for future generations. Please can the whanau help us get (or direct us to ) the information we need. Please email us on spdip@hnpl.net, in the subject line please mention Collier family this will help us recognise that it is from a reliable source and we will accept it through our spam filter. This project is important to our daughter and we would appreciate as much help as possible. Many thanks in anticipation. She needs to have the informations ASAP.Trisha Diprose

Kia Ora, My name is Chelsea Victoria Collier,Daughter of Adrian(bunny)Collier and Myra Trent, Grand daughter of Adrian(felo)Collier and Beverly Crisp.Great Grandaughter of Dick and Terehinga Collier(omaramutu).I am presently back in New Zealand visiting the Whanau from Melbourne Aus, working for Des Camron Shearing Sheds, but unfortunately during my journey back here I lost one my dearest cousins Jordan Collier Son of Pauline Collier and David Hiroki, tragically taken from us in the result of a Car Accident.Jordan was only 19yrs old, but in the time he was with us he grew into an awesome young man and shearer. Jordan was one of the few up and coming young Shearers we have today in the industry, rubbing shoulders with the likes of David Fagan and his Uncle Bunny whom he idiled.Jordan was bought back from Danniverke where he was working with Paiwai Mullins Shearing contractors, and where he also ended his journey, We bought Jordan back home to Omaramutu marae and then lay him to rest at Waiua Cemetary. It was obviously very sad, but it also bought our big whanau back together once again.Working in the Shearing industry myself, I do alot of travelling, and would like to keep in touch with all you wonderful people on this sight, maybe I might be passing through your way sometime soon.Awesome website. Kia Ora all the whanau out there. If there are any other couzies out there in the shearing industry gives a hoot.Love Chelsea
