i would like to know if there is a possibility of finding out from someone who was involved in the creation of the Manuel Jose family crest and how permission could be obtained to print tshirts with the crest on the front and Ole Jose on the back.I am the grandson of Spencer Haenga Peti Limas grandson .I was discussing the idea with another Jose living in Christchurch because he has always wanted to have a Tile with the crest but seeing as they are currently unavailable we were thinking of other ideas to help promote the family history and depending on the cost of the initial screen may determine the cost of the shirts if we decided to sell them and funds raised could go to the next reunion .my email address is donny_z@hotmail.com

Kia ora te whanau.I am Charlie Manuel from the family from Whatuwhiwhi. Id firstly like to extend a belated message of aroha and sympathy to our McConnell whanaunga on the tragic loss of their whaea Vivienne, ive only just read about their tragedy. Our thoughts go out to matua Bob and all the whanau. No reira kia kaha te matua,na te Atua i runga rawa, koutou e manaaki e tiaki. And we all hope that you recover and get well soon. This is just to let anyone out there who is wanting to know anything about the family from Whatuwhiwhi to contact me on my contacts. I met Bob and Viv at our Manuel reunion in 2001 and we decided then that i would come back up north and organise a reunion for the Manuel Jose family from Whatuwhiwhi.Well the good news is that finally after almost 10 years we will be having our reunion which will run from 27th of December 2010 thru to the 2nd of January 2011, to be held at Maitai Bay in Whatuwhiwhi. so if you think you are part of this family,or youre not sure contact me asap. Also would David Sims ,who put a note on Thursday 19 April 2007 ,contact me if youre still interested, and ill be happy to help.Ijust want to say how impressed i am with this site, so to all of kia kaha i roto i o tatou rapuara mo tatou whanau and as our tupuna says in his motto :Adelante Para Siempre: (Go forward).Contacts email charlie_manuel55@hotmail.com. phone(09)2692363. mobile 02102544235. Kia Ora: I was doing research on my hapu in Northland (Te Whanau Moana) when I came across a whakapapa of Jose Manuel who had children to a Mere Ngakohikohi. They lived for a time at Karikari. Their children were Manuera Houtai, Motu Houtai and Meri Houtai. Houtai was our name for Jose. I don't know if uri of these tupuna have been to reunions. Our korero is that that Paniora stayed on the north before moving to Ngati Porou.

Kia ora whanau Thank you to all our whanau and friends who helped us celebrate our wedding on 7 March 2009 at Orongomai at Upper Hutt. It really was a fabulous day to remember. I wished now that we had just put an open invitation on our website to all our Manuel Jose family to our wedding, but never mind my husband John's 60th birthday is coming up in October (probably will celebrate on the 10th of October). It is so important to keep meeting as a whanau, even though some of us still don't know each other. We did have whanau who travelled from the Coast and they really made our day! We thank them again! It was really awesome to see them all! My school friend from Tauranga said was the best wedding that she had even been too. Our MC, kappa haka roopu Te Ati Kimihia made our day so special. Also speeches and waiata from Doug and George were extraordinary. (Our cousies who we really got to know in Spain last year). Our guests are still asking about them! Our minister who married us was also a bit of a dag - really made us laugh and have fun! My new sister in law (John's sister Maria) from Netherlands advised me that her husband also from the Netherlands was so moved to tears at our wedding as he had never experienced such singing/waiata as we did at our wedding. There were approximately 300 people at our wedding and the sun shone just at the right time after raining in the morning. We had the wedding outside and managed to get sunburnt in that time. We had other special friends come out from England, Germany, Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, Spain and one first nation person from Canada. The Spanish Ambassador Marcus Gomez and his wife Christina also attended our wedding and gave a lovely speech. I heard that members of the kapa haka roopu were so impressed with Marcus's command of te reo Maori. All my family (I have 8 siblings) mostly from the East Coast came except for two brothers. One wasn't so well and the other had pressing work that had to be met. John and I are still reeling of happiness and are planning to go to Spain in August for a confirmation of our wedding vows there in Spain with our family in Europe. I would like a Moroccan gown; probably a soft yellow but I dont know where I would get it from. They have such beautiful dresses long and elegant with lots of beads. We will probably buy our cake from there and we will have confirmation at one of the old, old churches and after go to a restaurant. Some of Johns family will probably travel from Holland to meet us there. We also plan to have a cruise around the Mediterranean for 12 days going to Italy and Greece, France and Turkey. We plan to go for five weeks. We have all the photos back now 2129 in 13 folders and John is making a slide show of the wedding Let us know and John will make a copy for you for a small fee ($5.00 to cover the media and ink). Wishing our whanau all the best Kind regards Maria and John

Kia ora whanau :) My name's Christine and I found this page on accident when I was researching family history for a speech I was doing at college. I never knew how I was connected to Manuel Jose until now! And it was really exciting because when I clicked on 'whakapapa' up the top, I ended up finding my father's name, Shaune Graham. When I showed him, he thought he was famous haha. His mother (my nan) is the daughter of Jim McDonald who was the son of Frank McDonald and Peti Te Pu Manuel (Manuel Jose's youngest daughter to Maraea Te Hake). So it's interesting to know how I'm connected to him and it was quite a coincidence making this find! If it wasn't for that speech I had to do research for, I probably would've never known!
